PRODUCT EDUCATION MANAGER

Kenra, Ltd. has an exciting career opportunity for a Product Education Manager (PEM). Join one of the fastest growing professional hair care companies! Kenra, Ltd., an Indianapolis-based, privately held company, is an energetic, fast-paced marketer and distributor dedicated to providing the highest quality products and services to the professional beauty industry.

The PEM is responsible for the development of product innovation and the product knowledge curriculum of the Kenra® brands. As a part of the marketing department and reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, the PEM must understand the professional beauty industry and the needs of product performance from a stylist’s perspective. The PEM will work together with the product development team to conceive new products and evaluate formulas based on the marketing and stylist criteria. The PEM is also responsible for creating the product education materials with the marketing team and supporting the educational needs for product launches and otherwise.


Responsibilities:

Product Development:

• Researching and defining new product innovation concepts for stylists as part of our marketing product management plan ;
• Working with the product development team to take the product management plan and deliver quality products to the professional beauty market on time and within economic considerations;
• Ensuring the product pipeline is on stylist trend, while identifying new product opportunities based on professional beauty and market place needs;
• Assisting R&D on changes needed to product formulas and articulating product performance criteria and specifications to enable the actual formulation process;
• Establishing product testing groups with stylists and salons; and,
• Constantly monitoring competitive product launches.

Product Education:

• Create a product knowledge education plan for the Kenra brands based on the strategic marketing plan;
• Work with the National Sales Trainer on continually improving the product knowledge training program based on the needs of stylists and recommendations of the sales team;
• Provide styling tips and “cocktailing” techniques for marketing communication and adapting fashion beauty trends to the product curriculum; and,
• Attend trade shows and work with sales team on education requests as needed.


Job Requirements:

• Commitment to professional beauty industry;
• Cosmetologist license and minimum 5 years of experience as a stylist;
• At least 3 years of experience in product development and working with R&D in a corporate setting;
• Bachelor’s degree;
• Extensive knowledge of current professional hair care market trends;
• A firm grasp of ingredients, technologies, and the formulation process for professional hair care products;
• Experience with creating product education curriculum for professional beauty industry;
• Outstanding communication skills –verbal and written;
• Ability to travel;
• A positive/professional attitude and evidence of team player skills; and,
• Strong computer skills.
